Fort Plank . . . a short distance west from Fort Plain.
There is no image available of Fort Plank.
The above map will show you the approximate location of Fort Plank.
Some of the places indicated on the map were not present at the time
of the
Revolutionary War,
i.e., St. John's Reformed Church.
The names here are a few of the men who mention Fort Plank in their pension applications. Since I have not finished transcribing the entire alphabet, more names will probably be added. PLEASE, if you see any problems with this page let me know. With this many links there are bound to be some! ajberry29@hotmail.com
This is a cautionary note, original source material is not always accurate. James F. Morrison carefully documents the service records of the service men, just because a man served doesn't mean he did so. After all, the men wanted a pension and sometimes some huge lies were told to get a pension; or perhaps it was fogetfullness on the part of some of them men due to old age. The history of the area should be treated with honesty and not changed to make a person's ancestors look like heroes.
Some pensions have been end noted and corrected but some have not as of yet. There are close to 7,000 men on the Revolutionary War Pension site.
